Health Center at Live Oak had an employee test positive today for COVID-19, bringing the total number of employees testing positive to date to 20. The number of positive Covid-19 tests for residents at Health Center remains unchanged at 14 to date. Savannah's total remains unchanged with 2 positive employee tests to date.

Since our last update, we have had another positive COVID-19 test among employees. To date, we have had positive tests at Health Center at Live Oak (4 residents and 5 employees) and Savannah (1 employee).  All are now off campus. As the COVID-19 pandemic enters its second month and we’ve experienced our first positive COVID-19 tests, we remain proactive in our fight against this virus, following CDC and Louisiana Department of Health guidelines. To date, we have had positive tests at Health Center at Live Oak (4 residents and 4 employees) and Savannah (1 employee).  All are now off campus. We continue to restrict visitors and non-essential personnel, practice social distancing, perform intensive sanitizing measures, provide appropriate personal protective equipment and daily monitor staff and residents for fever and illness. We continue to update residents and staff through internal communication and have expanded communication via our webpage – oaksofla.com. We also have established a number to call – (318-212-2102)  –  for recorded updates with the latest information.  The health and well-being of Oaks residents and staff is and always will be our No. 1 priority.

We are experiencing an unprecedented public health crisis in our community, state, country, and indeed across the world. Gov. John Bel Edwards has issued a “Shelter in Place” or “Stay at Home” order for the entire state until mid-April in an effort to mitigate the spread as much possible. We implore residents to refrain from leaving the campus for any reason other than a dire emergency. Every time you leave the campus, you take a chance on infecting yourself and then subsequently your friends who live at The Oaks. We also are restricting visitors to campus until further notice.
