Tour of Trees draws crowds both days

Tour of Trees draws crowds both daysThe every-other-year Tour of Trees at The Oaks of Louisiana drew nearly 300 visitors to the healthy lifestyle community during its two-day run Dec.12-13.

On Saturday, Dec. 12, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect, with many of those on campus to see the elaborate decorations and decorated trees choosing walking over being driven from one residence to the next.

Santa never let on but he probably would have preferred a bit cooler North Pole-like temperatures! He was on campus to listen to children’s wish lists and for anyone who wanted a photo op. And there were many!

The next day, light rain did not deter the steady stream of young and young at heart, the trees drawing oohs and aahs and some taking notes!

The Tour of Trees began as a gift to the residents and the community and has now become a family holiday tradition for many. The tour includes more than 30 painstakingly decorated trees located throughout the campus –Tower at The Oaks, Savannah at The Oaks, Garden Apartments’ Franks Community Centre, Health Center at Live Oak and the Chapel Annex.

The trees feature a variety of themes and colors and the entire campus is dressed in its holiday finery – from garlands, swags and wreaths indoors to nearly 16,000 twinkling white lights outdoors.

“I think we had such a successful tour this year because people have heard about the trees and they know what to expect at The Oaks of Louisiana,” says Rhonda MacIsaac, independent living director.
