Amen with the Rev. Andrew Comeaux

November 04, 2020

Andrew

Our son Anthony is taking piano lessons for one of his electives this year in high school. I have always wanted to learn to play piano myself but never had the time or took the time to get lessons. I was able to bring Anthony and sit in on some of his early lessons. I watched his teacher emphasize that one of the first things he needs to learn is to always know where middle C is among the keys and be able to get back to it.

If you are like me, 2020 has been a whirlwind of unexpected events and changes. We started off the year with the pandemic, which is still churning on, then racial tension, then hurricanes and now the election.  Each one of those causing life disturbing changes to people we know and even ourselves. Changes in health, changes in weather, changes in relationships. Then on top of those, all the other ups and downs that are always a part of each of our lives. I think I am longing for a middle C in life. A place or even a frame of mind that is familiar. Where I know it will always be and I know where to find it. The secure place that will constantly be there.

Well the Bible tells me that there is One who always was and always will be. There is a Creator who made this world and made me as well. It was His power that caused all of it to happen and He is the one who keeps it going. It is in His love that He decided to share when He created you and me. He has never changed. His plan is clear, and His promises are never broken. He pledges that He will forever be available to us…when we know where to find Him. He is really our middle C and we always need to remember how to get back to Him…from wherever we are.

““But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the Creator of all light, and he shines forever without change or variation.”

– James 1:17
